Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board 2nd Annual Awards Ceremony
Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB), in association with Bank of Ireland, hosted its 2nd Annual Awards presentation in the Clayton Hotel, Galway last evening, whereat the excellence and achievements of students from the 20 Second Level GRETB schools in counties Galway and Roscommon was recognised and applauded
A total of 83 Awards were presented in various categories :
- Science Technology Engineering and Maths
- Health Living and Wellbeing
- Green Project/Environmental
- Arts, Culture and Music
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- Cur chun cinn na Gaeilge agus an Chultúir Ghaelaigh
- Overcoming Adversity
- Open Category
David Leahy, Chief Executive, says that this annual event presented an opportunity for GRETB to recognise and award excellence and achievements of GRETB students under the various categories. He said he hoped the students would gain inspiration from the public acknowledgement of their excellent achievements and hoped that such would encourage even greater things in the future. Mr. Leahy added that the Awards Ceremony is one of the annual highlights since the formation of GRETB in June, 2013.
Mr. Brian Carey, Manager, Bank of Ireland, Galway City, said at the event that Bank of Ireland were delighted to partner GRETB in recognising the talent of GRETB students and it was fitting for the ETB to award excellence in the various categories.
Cllr. Michael Maher, GRETB Chairperson, in complimenting the students and their parents, said it was every evident that student life embraces all facets of learning, it is not all about academic but rather the holistic development of the students as our education leaders prepare our young people for the world of life.
