Music Generation Galway County is managed by Galway County Music Education Partnership, led by Galway and Roscommon ETB in partnership with Galway County Council, An Roinn Ealaíon, Gaeltachta agus Oidhreachta, Ealaín na Gaeltachta, Tusla, Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, NUI Galway, Galway Rural Development, FORUM Connemara CLG, local music partners: Music Matters, Headford Music Works, An Gaelacadamh, Athenry Music School, Coole Music & Arts and The Galway Music Residency, youth services: Foróige, Youthwork Ireland Galway, FORUM Adolescent Support Project and Involve, festivals: Baboró and the Galway Jazz Festival, representatives from the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals, the Irish Primary Principals Association, the Post Primary Music Teachers Association, Galway Education Centre and media partner, The Galway Advertiser Newspaper Group.

Music Generation Galway County Programmes

Symphonic Waves: Symphonic Waves is a youth orchestra for the west of Ireland open to young musicians aged 13 – 21 from or based in Galway, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim, Mayo, Clare or Limerick. The orchestra was formed in 2017 as a project for Galway 2020, European Capital of Culture. Symphonic Waves’ programme is now managed and delivered by Music Generation Galway County since its arrival in 2018. Currently a string orchestra, Symphonic Waves rehearsals take place once a month along with 2 residential rehearsals per year. Brass and Woodwind sections will be recruited towards the end of 2018. Symphonic Waves is supported by Galway 2020.

PRESS RELEASE Try the Pipes Music Generation Galway Co 2018 Galway

Uilleann Pipes Programme

Following the recent Try the Pipes events in Clifden and Carraroe in November 2018, Music Generation Galway County in partnership with Na Píobairí Uilleann are proposing uilleann pipes tuition in early 2019 subject to demand.

Expressions of Interest are being taken of interest in this tuition for ages 10 – 18yrs until 30th November 2018.

Lán le Ceol: Lán le Ceol is a Primary school based music access programmes due to be rolled out before the end of 2018 in a small number of schools with a view to growing this number in 2019.

RockPopHipHop: RockPopHipHop is a popular music access programme for teenagers providing tuition in a range of instruments and vocals. The programme will also create opportunities for participants to meet like-minded musicians and form bands. Locations to be announced in October 2018.
