New post-primary school to open September 2019

Iar-bhunscoil nua le hoscailt, Meán Fómhair 2019

Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB) held a regular board meeting on June 12th  2018 and decided to apply to the Department of Education and Skills for patronage of the proposed new 1,000-pupil post-primary school for the Galway City/ Oranmore area. GRETB’s proposal is for a 1,000-pupil co-educational, multi-denominational community college with an Aonad lán-Ghaeilge attached, to be managed and run by GRETB as patron, becoming GRETB’s 21st post-primary community college in the Galway/Roscommon area.

GRETB is proposing that the new community college, with a working title of Coláiste Chúil Each, be established between Galway City East and Oranmore, which would service primary schools on the east side of the city and Oranmore, including Irish-medium schools such as Gaelscoil Dara, Renmore; Gaelscoil de hÍde, Oranmore and Scoil Bhríde, Menlo.

GRETB’s most recently established post-primary community colleges are Coláiste Bhaile Chláir and Coláiste Mhuirlinne/ Merlin College (2013); Coláiste an Eachréidh (2006) and Coláiste na Coiribe (1992). Each of these co-educational, multi-denominational GRETB community colleges are well regarded for the high academic, social and cultural achievements of their students.

Should parents choose GRETB as patron, Coláiste Chúil Each will welcome children of all faiths and none, and provide high quality education through both the medium of Irish and English within the Irish and English medium sections of the school respectively.

If parents of primary school children wish for this co-educational, multi-denominational 1,000-pupil community college to be established, managed and run by GRETB as their choice as patron and manager, they should express their interest and register to attend Coláiste Chúil Each without delay through the DES website at www.education.ie

Ag gnáthchruinniú de bhord GRETB ar 12 Meitheamh 2018, rinne an bord cinneadh iarratas a dhéanamh ar an Roinn Oideachais agus Scileanna chun a bheith mar phátrún ar an iar-bhunscoil nua 1,000 scoláire atá le bunú i gCathair na Gaillimhe/ Órán Mór. Is é moladh GRETB san iarratas chuig DES gur Coláiste Pobail 1,000 mac léinn comhoideachais, ilchreidmheach a bhunófaí, bainistithe agus riartha ag GRETB, le hAonad lán-Ghaeilge ceangailte mar chuid den choláiste, rud a chiallódh go mbeadh an coláiste pobail seo ar an 21ú coláiste pobail ag BOOGRC i limistéar na Gaillimhe agus Ros Comáin.

Tá GRETB ag moladh go mbunófar an coláiste pobail comhoideachais ilchreidmheach nua -a bhfuil Coláiste Chúil Each á mholadh againn mar theideal oibre air- agus go bhfreastalódh sé ar bhunscoileanna sa limistéar taobh thoir den chathair agus in Órán Mór, lena n-áirítear scoileanna a oibríonn trí mheán na Gaeilge, cosúil le Gaelscoil Dara, An Rinn Mhór; Gaelscoil de hÍde, Órán Mór agus Scoil Bhríde, Mionlach.

Is iad na scoileanna deiridh a bhunaigh GRETB ná: Coláiste Mhuirlinne/ Merlin College agus Coláiste Bhaile Chláir (2013); Coláiste an Eachréidh (2006) agus Coláiste na Coiribe (1992). Tá dea-cháil ar gach coláiste pobail comhoideachais, ilchreidmheach BOOGRC agus an-mheas orthu as an méid a bhaineann siad amach go hacadúil, go sóisialta agus go cultúrtha dá gcuid mac léinn.

Má roghnaíonn tuistí BOOGRC mar phátrún, cuirfidh Coláiste Chúil Each fáilte roimh leanaí ó gach creideamh agus roimh leanaí gan chreideamh, agus cuirfidh sé ar fáil oideachas d’ardchaighdeán trí mheán na Gaeilge agus an Bhéarla araon laisitigh de na ranna meán Gaeilge agus Béarla sa scoil faoi seach.

Más mian le tuismitheoirí scoláirí bunscoile go mbunódh, go mbainisteodh agus go riarfadh BOOGRC an coláiste pobail 1,000 mac léinn comhoideachais, ilchreidmheach seo mar phátrún agus mar bhainisteoir, is ceart dóibh a suim a léiriú agus clárú le freastal ar Choláiste Chúil Each gan mhoill trí shuíomh idirlín ROS/DES ag www.education.ie
