GTI welcomed its first Erasmus students for this academic year. 4 students from IES Jaime Ferran Clua Vocational School in Madrid will participate in a healthcare vocational placement, developing key skills in the care of elderly clients. It is their first time to Galway and we are thankful to Rushmore Nursing Home and Coral Haven Nursing Home for facilitating the traineeships. Erasmus Plus offers a unique learning opportunity to students who wish to enhance their learning in a European context. GTI sends more than 100 learners abroad every year to many European destinations in a range of vocational specialisms. Skills learned are transferable as they offer the learner an opportunity to live and learn in another country. We welcome the students to our city and hope they enjoy Galway’s unique social identity as the European Capital of Culture.
In February 2020, GTI plans to send some students to Madrid on an Erasmus Plus exchange programme in order to continue, sustain and strengthen the process by engaging with the Spanish healthcare system. GTI students will work in a busy hospital setting in Madrid where they will replicate the learning of our Spanish students here in Galway over the next 2 weeks.
