Coláiste an Chreagáin Celebrate Three in a row for the schools ‘Club Gaeilge’
On May 28th 2017, students from the Irish Club were invited by Gael Linn to Leopardstown to accept the Gaelbhratach award for 2016-2017. This is the third successive year for the school to achieve Gaelbhratach status. Gaelbhratach is a scheme which awards recognition to schools for promoting the use and the awareness of the Irish language throughout the school and in the local community. The Irish Club has been actively working both inside and outside the school throughout this year to achieve the Gaelbhratach status for 2017. This award recognises their active promotion of the Irish language. List of Activities completed in Colaiste an Creagáin throughout academic year 2016-2017 included:
- Day trip to the Gaeltacht
- Participation in Gaeilge 24 (speaking as Gaeilge for 24 hours)
- Seachtain na Gaeilge
- Sports Competition
- Day trip to Coláiste Mhuirlinne (paired school)
- Irish Cuture Day – Music, Drama and Sean Nós Dancing
- Gaeltacht School Visit from Coláiste Cholm Cille, Inverin

2 FM’s Eoghan Mc Dermot hosted the occasion and Seo Linn performed at the presentation. They proved a massive hit with the students. Seo Linn are an energetic and fun young band, bursting onto the Irish music scene with their powerful originals and unique take on contemporary songs, with a particular passion for Gaeilge.
The GRETB annually celebrates their community of learners as they prepare themselves and overcome the challenges of the future. Recognition and celebration of engagement and diligence in pursuing excellence. This year the Irish Club were awarded the ‘Cur Chun Cinn na Gaeilge’ award for their active promotion of the Irish Language within the school.
The GRETB Irish language Gaeltacht Scholarships Programme for 2017 is under contract to Coláiste Chamuis, Indreabhán. This scholarship programme is open to all school years, except the Leaving Certificate class. This year the GRETB granted 2 scholarships to the school. The successful students were Conal Docherty and Fionn O Connor. Tomás Breathnach, Irish Officer within the GRETB presented the scholarships.
