  • Less than Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent

Course: 
Aim: 
The purpose of this award is to enable the learner to develop the relevant knowledge skill and competence to use a range of skills and tools, in familiar situations. The course will enable to learner to participate in and to pursue a range of employment opportunities or to progress to further education and training. 
Course Content:
Participants will choose a minimum of four modules and a maximum of eight

Aim: The overall aim of the programme is to provide the learner with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skill, and competence to work under supervision in providing support in a variety of Healthcare settings and/or to progress to further and or higher education and training. Course Content:

Year One:

  • Care Support (5 N0758)
  • Care of the Older Person (5 N2706)
  • Communications (5 N0690)
  • Safety & Health at Work (5 N1794)
Year Two:

  • Care Skills (5 N2770)
  • Infection Prevention & Control (5 N1356)
  • Human Growth & Development (5 N1279)
  • Work Experience (5 N1356)
Programme Duration: 
Two years: 60 weeks
Year One Start Date:
September 2017   End : May 2018
2 Days per week:  
Tuesday: 9.30 – 2pm  –    Wednesday: 9.30 – 12.30pm
