The centre covers, Tuam, Milltown,  Dunmore, Ballymoe, Glenamaddy, Ballygar, Mountbellew, Moylough, Abbeyknockmoy and Turloughmore. The aim of our centre is to provide courses to support assist and fulfil the needs of adults who are experiencing difficulties with reading, writing, spelling, numeracy and computer skills and offers a second chance in education. Classes are flexible and run morning, afternoon and evening to facilitate learners. Students work in small groups or on a 1:1 basis. Students work in a relaxed and friendly environment. The service is free and confidential. The following programmes are available;


Skills for Work:
Open to people who are in employment either full time, part time or self-employed, and have few or out dated educational qualifications. The programme runs for 12 weeks
  • Basic computers- Internet & Email
  • Using the Internet for work related information
  • Communications through ICT
  • Word, Excel
  • Computers for Farmers
  • Everyday Maths


Intensive Tuition in Adult Basic Education: 
Programmes run over 14 weeks with 6 hours tuition per week in the following
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Spelling
  • Everyday numeracy
  • Beginners computers
  • Introduction to digital literacy – tablets, smart phones and apps

Family Learning:
Family Learning is aimed at promoting parental involvement in children’s learning and recognises the special role of parents as their children’s natural teachers.

English as a Second or Other Language:
  • Beginners English
  • Intermediate English
  • QQI Level 3 Language


Target Group
  • All Adults over 18 years.
  • Parents who may lack confidence in helping their children with learning.
  • We provide Literacy Support to Special Needs Centres.


Resources & Expertise Available
  • Trained Volunteer Tutors and Paid Part/Time Tutors.
  • Access to Adult Guidance & Counselling Service.


Certification and Tuition Times:
Accreditation is available from QQI level 1 to level 3 as appropriateClasses are available morning and evening Monday – Friday.
